The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has opened an investigation into the head of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova. This was announced by the WADA press service on April 20.

In February last year, The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing a source, reported that Loginova allegedly took part in concealing doping at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.

"WADA takes these allegations very seriously and has notified its Independent Investigation Department (RRR) about this," RBC quoted WADA as saying.

In addition, the press service added that the RRR is currently investigating another accusation against RUSADA.

On March 24, Russian Sports Minister and head of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev announced that the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) had lifted all sanctions against the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) in connection with doping violations. Prior to that, the VFLA was suspended from international competitions in 2015 following a report by the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
