- Everything with a bunch: the comedy "Petrushka" with Kologrivy became the best novelty in cinema
"What a drama!" starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson once again topped the domestic film distribution. At the weekend, the film, according to the EAIS, earned another 121 million rubles. That's twice as much as its closest competitor for audience attention, the teen hit "Your Heart Will Be Broken." The best new movie of the weekend was the comedy with Nikita Kologrivy "Petrushka". But she earned only 17 million rubles. For more information about the results of the film distribution, see the Izvestia article.
Why did cinema attendance drop?
Usually, the lower the temperature outside, the higher the cinema attendance. But last weekend showed the opposite result. According to the EAIS, it dropped to one million people over the weekend. A week earlier, the dynamics of the number of viewers was at around 1.2 million, two weeks earlier — 1.6 million.

— At the end of March, viewers were massively attracted to cinemas by "Kuzya the Housekeeper 2" and "Your Heart will be broken." Almost a month later, their relevance began to subside, and new releases that would enjoy the same popularity have not yet appeared," Olga Zinyakova, president of the KARO cinema chain, told Izvestia.
As a result, the premiere releases this time did not even get into the top 5 of the Russian box office. The best novelty of the weekend was the comedy "Petrushka". But the film debuted only from the sixth place of the rating, earning only 17 million rubles over the weekend. Neither the proven formula of the American cartoon "Ratatouille" worked in his favor (Remy the rat helped the loser cook there, and a doll came to life here), nor the stellar cast.: Nikita Kologrivy, Alexander Metelkin, Stasia Miloslavskaya, Viktor Loginov, and Garik Kharlamov, who voiced Petrushka.
— The project lacked uniqueness, plus "Petrushka" had serious competitors who had already proven themselves at the box office — "Kuzya the Housekeeper 2" and "My Dog is an astronaut". Both releases work for the target audience of Petrushka, and the viewer preferred them," Olga Zinyakova explained the result of the novelty.

A foreign novelty lagged slightly behind "Petrushka" — the American action film "Normal" with the star of the TV series "Better call Saul" Bob Odenkirk. During the same period, Lenta earned 16 million rubles and took the seventh place in the box office. The Franco-Belgian psychological thriller "Guru" starring Pierre Ninet as a personal growth coach did not arouse much interest either. The film was at the very end of the list — in 12th place with 9 million rubles over the weekend.
"What a drama!" is back in first place.
Predictably, the first line of the domestic distribution was taken by "This is a drama!" for the second week in a row. The non-classic romcom with thriller elements, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, has added another 121 million rubles to its account.
The other leaders of last week also held their positions. The teen hit "Your Heart will be Broken", an adaptation of the novel by Anna Jane, is on the second line (66 million), followed by the adventure film "My Dog is an Astronaut" (51 million), inspired by the story of Belka and Strelka, on the fourth line "Kuzya the Housekeeper 2" (33 million), closes the top 5 "The King of my Love" (22 million).
At the same time, only two paintings from the list confidently reached one billion in total collections. These are "Your heart will be broken" (809 million rubles) and "Kuzya the Housekeeper 2" (833 million rubles). But given today's pace, they are unlikely to be able to overcome the mark.

Next weekend, several high-profile new films will be released in Russian cinemas, which can seriously compete with today's box office leaders and bring the viewer back to the cinema. One of them is Alexander Kott's big historical drama "The Angels of Ladoga". The action takes place in 1941 in besieged Leningrad. A squad of young drilling athletes goes out on thin ice to deliver ammunition. But the mission turns into an operation to rescue orphans from an orphanage. The film has a brilliant cast — Tikhon Zhiznevsky, Roman Evdokimov, Ksenia Traister, Viktor Dobronravov, Polina Agureeva.
Before the premiere in the cinema, "Angels of Ladoga" was shown at the 48th Moscow International Film Festival. The work of director Alexander Kott became the opening film of the screening.
In addition, the drama "Kommersant" about a banker who finds himself behind bars in Matrosskaya Tishina at the height of the 1990s after a failed deal and a setup is being released domestically. The film has already received positive reviews from some critics. Alexander Petrov has the main role. The cast also includes Elizaveta Bazykina, Mikhail Troinik and the rapper Husky.
