One person was killed when a truck hit protesters in South Korea.
In the South Korean city of Jinju, a truck ran over a group of protesters, killing one person and injuring two others. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency on April 20, citing local authorities.
It is noted that the incident occurred at the logistics center at 10:32 a.m. (4:32 a.m. Moscow time). According to police, a 2.5-ton truck crashed into the protesters at the moment when people were trying to prevent the car from leaving the territory. The participants in the protest were members of the freight forwarders' trade unions.
According to Yonhap, a few hours after the incident, a union car crashed into a police fence at the rally site. As a result, a 20-year-old policeman was injured, and he was diagnosed with minor injuries.
The police detained the driver and passenger of the truck, and an investigation is underway. The agency notes that clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers began at the scene.
In Israel, on January 7, a bus drove into a crowd of ultra-Orthodox protesters who opposed conscription. One person died. The bus driver was arrested on the spot.
