US President Donald Trump, even if he resolutely intends to, will not be able to destroy the existing military bloc of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) with his policy. This opinion was expressed by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with RT on April 20.

"No. No. Even if Trump decides that NATO is everything, he won't have enough time to do it. Other people will come who will save NATO," the president said.

Lukashenko noted that Trump himself and his entourage in the White House are well aware that NATO is not only "Washington's warheads and money."

"This is a colossal foothold of the United States of America together with its allies on the Eurasian continent," the politician said.

On April 1, the American leader announced that he was seriously considering the US withdrawal from NATO after the alliance refused to help in the conflict with Iran. According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance has never influenced him. Trump called the participants paper tigers.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte commented on April 18 that he did not foresee the US withdrawal from the North Atlantic Alliance. He pointed to the need for "a stronger Europe within a stronger NATO." According to him, the United States remains a key guarantor of Europe's security, in particular, thanks to the nuclear umbrella.
