The increase in the number of crimes among teenagers on the Internet is associated with an increase in the time that children spend online, but bans cannot solve this problem. Yulia Ablets, Deputy General Director of ANO Dialog Regions, told Izvestia about this on April 22.

"Every third crime among teenagers is related to the Internet, but bans cannot solve the problem," she said.

According to the expert, safety in the digital environment requires the formation of basic skills in children, including self-regulation, discipline and critical thinking. She explained that it is important not only to limit the time on the Internet, but also to teach the child the conscious consumption of content.

Ablec stressed that parents should act not as supervisors, but as mentors, discuss what they see online with their children and explain the mechanisms of content impact.

"Censorship or bans are unlikely to work. The child will find a way to circumvent the restrictions at any time," the expert said.

She added that educational institutions should play an important role in the formation of digital literacy, where it is necessary to introduce systematic lessons on Internet security.

"Children create a digital footprint from an early age. One careless post, one questionable photo posted in the fifth grade, can ruin your dream university admission, ruin your career prospects, and even ruin your personal life," Ablets added.

The expert noted that in order to reduce risks, it is important to build trusting relationships in the family, in which the child is not afraid to seek advice and understands the principles of safe online behavior.

Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, announced on April 4 that Russia may allow the use of verified and secure neural networks in education. It was noted that verified artificial intelligence (AI) systems can be allowed, in which pedagogical control and personal data protection will be provided.
