The expert announced the growing popularity of the dopamine interior
Minimalism and Scandinavian style are losing popularity, giving way to the so-called dopamine interior with bright colors and individual accents. Yulia Egorova, Assortment Director of the Veresk furniture factory, told Izvestia about this on April 22.
"The dopamine style is not a superficial trend towards diversity. This interior is about childhood, naivety, courage and independence from other people's opinions. This is a way to escape from problems into a space where it becomes physically and mentally easier," she said.
According to the expert, modern interiors increasingly reflect the personality of the owner: people tend to get away from faceless spaces by adding color, textures and individual details. Egorova stressed that the popularity of this approach is especially noticeable among young people. Social media helps spread the trend by generating interest in more emotional and lively design solutions.
She clarified that the dopamine interior does not involve the chaotic use of bright colors. We are talking about a thoughtful palette where saturated shades are combined with soft, pastel tones and a basic neutral background.
The expert added that it is possible to introduce elements of this style without major repairs — it is enough to use accent furniture, textiles or decorative elements. According to her, at the same time, there is a growing interest in national identity in design: customers and designers turn to Russian cultural traditions and integrate them into modern interiors.
"The modern interpretation of the Russian style in design is <...> the very "dopamine" story, where the combination of bright spots of different cultures and life trends creates a unique interior," concluded Egorova.
Olga Manukovskaya, a designer at Level Group, said on April 11 that when buying a home, every square meter costs the owners a substantial amount, but during repairs, part of this area often turns into absolutely useless "blind spots". According to the expert, most often "dead zones" can be found when engineering communications are blindly sewn in bathrooms and kitchens.
