The Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed a phishing form requesting a card balance
On April 20, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia demonstrated an example of a phishing form by which attackers try to find out the balance of a bank card before stealing funds.
It is noted that in one of the schemes, the user is first asked to wait while the bank allegedly processes his data. After that, the confirmation of the card information is reported and a request appears to indicate the current balance of funds, ostensibly to ensure the security of the operation.
At the same time, attackers additionally use threats to block the card if an incorrect balance is indicated in order to increase trust and force the user to disclose information.
"Of course, this type of verification is not used in any legal procedure," the agency's Telegram channel says.
