- A prisoner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told about the surrender of conscripts by taxi drivers to the shopping center
In Ukraine, it is dangerous for people of military age to get into a taxi — the drivers cooperate with employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analogue of the military enlistment office), and received a reward from them for handing over a passenger. On April 20, a captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Nikolai German, told about this.
"You called a taxi, got in the car, the taxi driver looked at you, you fit the criteria. It's obvious that you're already 25 and not 65 or 60. And he already has your address, when he takes you, throws you off to the shopping center, you arrive there, there is already a group there," the prisoner of war explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.
It is noted that taxi drivers are divided into groups, each of which must bring a certain number of recruits to the shopping center. For each passenger brought in, drivers receive a so-called "kickback."
