Sobyanin reported on the progress of the Moscow Region project
The implementation of the Moscow Region project to create a unified transport space between the capital and the Moscow region has begun in Moscow. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his channel in the MAX messenger.
"Together with the government of the Moscow Region, we are implementing a unique project — a seamless transport system for residents of the country's largest agglomeration," he wrote.
The first stage of the project was completed in 2025: 25 routes were launched in the western, north-western and northern directions. On weekdays, almost 200 buses operate on them, performing about 70 thousand trips per day.
The second stage is planned for 2026 and provides for the integration of 54 more routes, including south-western, northern and north-eastern directions. About 450 buses with a total volume of more than 120,000 trips will be used to service them.
The completion of the project is scheduled for 2027-2028. As a result, a third of the routes connecting Moscow with the region will be integrated into the transport complex of the capital.
According to the mayor's office, in 2025, more than 40 stops and five turn-around platforms were renovated. The routes of local carriers are redirected to the stations of the Moscow central diameters, as well as the Yaroslavl and Paveletsky directions, which reduces the waiting time for transport.
"Last year, over 500 Russian—made buses were purchased to launch the routes, meeting the highest requirements and comfort criteria for Moscow transport," the mayor noted.
Since the beginning of the project, passengers have made almost 10 million trips, and passenger traffic has increased by up to 60 percent in a number of destinations. It is expected that the project will increase the comfort of travel for more than three million residents of Moscow and the Moscow region.
