In February of this year, Russia significantly reduced beer imports from the European Union (EU) countries — the volume of purchases decreased by about 4.5 times. This was reported by RIA Novosti on April 19, citing data from Eurostat.

It is noted that compared to the same period last year, the volume of purchases of the drink amounted to about € 1 million. At the same time, Russian companies purchased beer from the EU in the amount of €1.1 million, whereas in February 2025 this figure reached €4.7 million.

The largest drop was recorded in shipments from the Czech Republic — they decreased by 8.5 times, to €142.3 thousand. In addition, imports from Lithuania decreased sevenfold, to €72.9 thousand, and from Germany — 5.6 times, to €141.3 thousand. Beer supplies from the Netherlands have dropped to a minimum: in February, only €20 worth of products were imported to Russia.

In March, it was reported that since the beginning of the year, Russia has reduced beer imports from EU countries to the lowest level since 2004. It was clarified that at the beginning of 2026, beer imports from the EU to the country amounted to €763.6 thousand, which is seven times less than in January 2025, when the volume of purchases reached €5 million. The figure was the lowest since February 2004, when it amounted to €741.6 thousand.
