Attempts to rewrite history and equate the aggressor and liberator in World War II offend the memory of the Soviet people and contradict the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal, which issued an unequivocal decision on this issue. This was announced on April 19 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People.

"Attempts to rewrite history, to equate the aggressor and the liberator offend the memory of the Soviet people and contradict the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal, which recognized the Nazi leadership as criminal, and the Soviet people as the injured party and the winner," she told RIA Novosti.
