Polish President Karol Nawrocki said he would attempt to amend the country's constitution to strengthen the powers of the head of state. He stated this on April 18 on the KanalZero YouTube channel.

"I believe that the forces of the Polish parliament, with the help of the president, will make efforts to create a new constitution of the Polish Republic. I am a supporter of the presidential system. <...> At the same time, I do not insist. Maybe we should choose a chancellor system. But we cannot live in such a system," Navrotsky said.

He added that he does not rule out a complete rejection of direct presidential elections, but at the same time reducing the level of his powers. According to him, in this case, the president is elected by the National Assembly and understands that he is an addition to the prime minister and performs only certain solemn and ceremonial functions.

Dariusz Matecki, a member of the Polish parliament from the Law and Justice party, announced on April 18 that the Lodz district prosecutor's office had closed the case of Navrotsky's insult by Ukrainian journalist Vitaly Mazurenko, leaving the perpetrator unpunished. It is noted that the prosecutor's office did not see any corpus delicti in the incident.
