The State Duma of the Russian Federation is considering expanding the list of grounds for expelling foreigners. This was announced on April 18 by the speaker of the lower house Vyacheslav Volodin.

He noted that it had been a little over a year since the police had the right to make extrajudicial decisions on expelling migrants for crimes. According to the speaker, the statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2025 indicate the effectiveness of the relevant law adopted by the State Duma.

"Currently, expulsion as a measure of responsibility for migrants is provided for in 22 articles of the Administrative Code. The State Duma is considering a bill that proposes to further expand the list of grounds to 43 articles of the Administrative Code," Volodin wrote on the MAX messenger.

According to the speaker, the lower house intends to adopt this draft in May. The State Duma is also considering six more initiatives to improve migration policy.
