Iran may block the Strait of Hormuz again if the US naval blockade continues. This was reported on April 17 by the Tasnim news agency, citing sources.

"If the naval blockade continues, it will be considered a violation of the ceasefire, and transit through the Strait of Hormuz will be closed," said a source in the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on April 17 that the passage through the Strait of Hormuz is open to commercial vessels due to the truce between Lebanon and Israel. He added that the movement of ships is ensured along the route agreed upon by the Organization of Ports and Maritime Transport of Iran.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump announced that Iran had allegedly agreed never to block the Strait of Hormuz again. According to the American president, the strait will no longer be used as a "weapon against the whole world."

At the same time, the American leader announced that the naval blockade of Iran's ports remains in place, despite the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, until Washington's deal with Tehran is 100% completed. He clarified that the process should go very quickly, since most of the points of the negotiations have already been agreed.
