Nutritionist Svetlana Zvereva warned that white cabbage is considered a useful product, but in some cases its use may be undesirable. In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, April 17, the specialist noted that people who had not consumed a lot of fiber before should introduce cabbage into the diet gradually to avoid bloating and nausea.

According to her, raw cabbage can cause colic and discomfort in children, so they are recommended to give it only from the age of three and in a heat-treated form.

The specialist also listed the contraindications. These include diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute stage — gastritis with increased acidity, ulcers, enteritis, colitis and pancreatitis, since coarse fiber can irritate the mucous membrane. In addition, cabbage is not recommended for myocardial infarction.

Zvereva added that cabbage juice can increase gas formation, and in rare cases, individual vitamin U intolerance is possible. With increased acidity of the stomach, the product can also cause discomfort.
