If the product is made in an unfriendly country, then an increased duty must be paid upon importation into Russia. Bypassing through the EAEU countries creates unequal conditions and the budget does not receive enough funds. This was announced on April 17 by the press service of the Federal Customs Service.

The reason for the clarifications was media reports that the customs authorities began charging businesses increased duties on goods imported from the EAEU countries, but produced in unfriendly states.

It is noted that the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated December 7, 2022 No. 2240 established increased rates of import duties on goods from countries that violate the economic interests of the Russian Federation. If the product is made in such an unfriendly country, an increased duty must be paid upon importation into Russia.

"Circumvention of the imposed restrictions by reorienting commodity flows through the EAEU countries creates unequal competitive conditions and does not fully attract funds to the federal budget," TASS said in a statement.

The day before, major car tire manufacturers asked the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) to protect the Russian market from increasingly increasing imports, mainly from China. The investigation may lead to the introduction of quotas or duties on imports in the amount of about 30%
