On April 17-19, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to identifying motorists driving while intoxicated. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads in Murmansk, Penza, Tver, Lipetsk, Ulyanovsk regions and other regions of the country.

"On the eve of the weekend, we remind you that driving after drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited. Drunk driving ends tragically and leads to the most serious consequences. We kindly ask you not to get behind the wheel after the feasts and use public transport or the "sober driver" service if the CTP policy provides for an unlimited number of people allowed to drive a car," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver is already facing criminal liability.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on citizens who saw that a person with signs of intoxication was getting behind the wheel of a car, or the driver was behaving inappropriately on the road, to report this to the police. According to such reports, the traffic police will take all necessary response measures, the department noted.

According to the results of January-February 2026, the number of accidents involving victims on the roads of Russia decreased by 8.2% compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on April 7, the number of people killed in road accidents during this period decreased by 13.2%, and the number of injured citizens decreased by 6.3%.
