At an event in Las Vegas dedicated to tax policy, US President Donald Trump admitted that he was not familiar with the term "corner store." This was reported on April 17 by The Independent newspaper.

During his speech, Trump read out a prepared text in which he listed the small businesses that benefited from the tax breaks. Among other things, he mentioned "restaurants, dry cleaners, corner shops." At this point, he stopped and addressed the audience with a question.

"What is a corner shop? I've never heard of that term," he said.

After that, he added that he guessed the meaning, but had never heard such an expression.

"Who the hell wrote this?", Trump asked the audience in conclusion.

The term "corner store" in the United States refers to a small grocery store within walking distance, most often located on the corner of residential areas. In a professional environment, such outlets are classified as "convenience stores."

On April 2, Trump joked about the family relationship between French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte. According to the US president, his wife treats the French leader "extremely badly."
