The All-Russian Cossack Society has an official symbolism.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the official symbols of the All—Russian Cossack Society - the coat of arms, banner and flag. This was announced on April 17 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
According to the text of the presidential decree, the coat of arms of the organization depicts an azure shield with a double-headed eagle, on the chest of which is placed the figure of St. George. As explained by the ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society, Vitaly Kuznetsov, the design elements symbolize traditional values and service to the state, and St. George the Victorious acts as the patron saint of the entire army.
The North-Western Cossack Society also received its symbols. It was established three years ago.
"The issue of establishing an annual military holiday on April 14, Military Banner Day, will be discussed. Every year, the date of the Cossack army drill will be timed to coincide with this day," said Maxim Buga, ataman of the North—Western Military Cossack Society.
The Heraldic Council under the President of the Russian Federation noted that when creating new paraphernalia, an extensive array of pre-revolutionary and modern historical literature was used. As Leonid Kitrar, a correspondent of Izvestia, noted, historically, the Cossacks became an integral part of Russian statehood in the 18th century: the first symbol of submission to the will of the emperor was the naseka, presented to ataman Vasily Frolov in 1718.
Currently, representatives of the Cossack units are taking part in a special military operation in various directions — from the Kherson region to Artemovsk. According to Dmitry Mironov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Cossack societies of the Luhansk People's Republic have already joined the "Great Army of the Don", similar work is underway to create district societies in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. At least 13 Cossacks have been awarded the title of Hero of Russia during their military service.
On April 14, Putin signed a decree approving the symbols of the All-Russian Cossack Society. As a result, the length of the HSC banner should be 130 cm and the width 110 cm. In the upper part of the frame, which contains a double-headed eagle, there is an inscription "For the glory of the Fatherland."
