Zakharova called the French and British project on the Strait of Hormuz incompetent.
The joint mission proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron with the United Kingdom to restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is an ineffective project. This was announced on April 16 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing.
She noted that in order to solve the problem, France is not trying to establish a dialogue directly with the parties to the conflict, primarily with Iran.
"It is obvious that in this form it is an incompetent project. All this once again shows that the main thing for Paris is not to implement the initiative for the benefit, but simply to publicize some kind of thought, if you can call it a thought, and use these circles on the water in their own interests," Zakharova concluded.
On the same day, Zakharova noted that Europe had inflicted a strategic defeat on itself by imposing sanctions against Russia. According to her, there is currently no definite answer whether the EU and Russia will resume economic cooperation, since cooperation should be based on equality and respect.
