In the first 72 hours of the Iranian naval blockade, 14 vessels changed course at the request of the American forces. This was announced on April 16 by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM).

"After 72 hours of ensuring control, 14 vessels turned around to comply with the requirements of the blockade at the direction of the American forces," the message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

CENTCOM also stated that American forces are focused, vigilant and highly motivated in carrying out the blockade of ships trying to enter or exit Iranian ports.

The day before, US President Donald Trump announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, stressing that this decision would benefit everyone, including China. He also noted that, according to his information, Beijing has no plans to supply weapons to Tehran.

On April 13, the United States began a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz due to the failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. It is carried out against ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian and Oman Gulfs.
