About 20 companies that own foreign communication channels have signed a moratorium on their expansion. We are talking about renting or commissioning new channels through which all foreign traffic is transmitted. This was reported by RBC, citing sources in the telecommunications market.

It is indicated that the moratorium was signed at a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Finance Maksut Shadaev. The term of the agreement is not specified.

According to the agency's interlocutor, the moratorium should force foreign services operating in the Russian Federation to install their servers inside the country. Otherwise, the download speed of content for their users from Russia will decrease.
