- About 300 urban pedestrian navigation steles will be installed in Moscow by the end of the year.
By the end of 2026, about 300 more urban pedestrian navigation steles are planned to be installed in Moscow. This was announced on Wednesday, April 15, by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry.
He noted that there is a high demand for such navigation elements in the city from both residents and tourists, so their installation will continue. According to him, by the end of the year, about 300 more signs will appear in nine districts, and the total number of sidewalk steles will exceed 2.4 thousand, the Moscow City News agency reports.
Vertical signs have been installed in Moscow since 2015 and are part of the unified urban transport navigation system. They contain maps of the area, images of recognizable landmarks, information about the nearest metro stations, the MCC and the MCC, as well as street names, directions to social, cultural and shopping facilities. In addition, the approximate travel time to these points is indicated on the steles.
It is noted that the design of the navigation elements is universal and suitable for areas with different architectures, both classical and modern. The structures are made in white with rounded edges, which makes the urban space visually lighter, writes Moscow 24.
According to the study, 94% of Muscovites and tourists use such steles during walks and would like to see them more often. The respondents named the design, conformity to the appearance of the area, as well as the clarity of the information and the font used as the most important characteristics of the signs.
