The veterinarian pointed out the safety of modern vaccinations for pets
Veterinarian Evgeny Tsyplenkov told on April 15 why it is important not to miss the annual revaccination of a pet.
In an interview with Radio 1, the expert noted that there is no shortage of vaccines now, so animal owners can safely come and get vaccinated. He added that Rabikan anti-rabies vaccine remains free for everyone, and for vaccination it is necessary to take a veterinary passport with you, while the document for the puppy will be issued on the spot.
The specialist also dispelled the widespread myth about the need to carry out revaccination strictly "day to day". According to him, it is still not worth forgetting about the timing, since this is a safety issue, and with a significant delay in vaccination, regulatory authorities may have questions about the owner.
Tsyplenkov stressed that comprehensive vaccination (against plague of carnivores, enteritis and other infections) is paid: the estimated cost of the Russian vaccine is about 2.5 thousand rubles.
The veterinarian also explained where the fears of rabies vaccinations came from and why they are irrelevant today. He said that until 1995, a tissue vaccine created from the brains of infected animals was used, which often caused allergies and complications. Now, culture vaccines are used: the virus is grown on cells and then inactivated, so such drugs are considered safe and practically do not cause complications.
The day before, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region reported that since the beginning of 2026, more than 68 thousand pets have been vaccinated against infections in the region. The department clarified that the main focus is on rabies prevention, according to the Moscow City News agency. Experts advise to adhere to the established vaccination schedule: puppies and kittens are vaccinated at the age of eight to 12 weeks, then they are revaccinated after three weeks and then repeated annually. 360.ru .
