The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation predicts an increase in the tourist flow across the country in the summer season to 48 million trips. This was announced on April 15 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko during a meeting of the government commission on tourism development.

According to the deputy chairman of the government, Russian travelers are now in demand for holidays in the mountains.

The leaders among the sought-after regions are Crimea, North Ossetia and Karachay-Cherkessia. During the meeting, the participants discussed the readiness of the infrastructure for the summer period.

"Demand will also be supported by the airports in Krasnodar and Gelendzhik that opened last year, as well as plans to open beaches in Anapa," said Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

He also stated that citizens have already formed a desire to travel around their country. Reshetnikov added that the ministry expects the tourism industry to choose a sound pricing strategy that will ensure their competition in the current situation.

The head of the department also noted that the Ministry of Economic Development plans to develop a concept for railway travel in Russia.
