The Ukrainian authorities must pay more than $ 180 million to the citizens of the country according to outstanding court decisions, however, the budget for these payments this year provides only $ 2.3 million, of which, first of all, repayment is 19.99 million hryvnia (slightly more than $ 459 thousand). This was announced on April 15 by Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod.

"As of April 1, 2026, the Treasury has 266,223 unfulfilled executive documents in the budget program for a total amount of 8,143,440,000 hryvnias ($184 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine. — ed.)," TASS cites the text of the document.

Skorokhod noted that these are mainly lawsuits over pensions and benefits. The situation is such that even with a court ruling in their favor, the plaintiffs will already be able to wait for payments, as well as their heirs.

"At the current rate of financing, it will take more than 81 years to close only current debts. <...> It turns out that when people owe money to the state, all accounts and property are instantly blocked, but getting their money from the state is fantastic," Skorokhod said.

In January, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, reported that displaced pensioners in Ukraine, numbering more than 1.3 million people, had massively lost their legal benefits due to bureaucratic difficulties. At the same time, Verkhovna Rada deputy Daniil Getmantsev said that Ukraine may face a shortage of funds to pay pensions and salaries to military personnel.
