An armed attack took place at Ayser Çalık Ortaokulu secondary school in Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş province in southern Turkey. One of the students opened fire with a firearm, killing four people and injuring 20 others. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The circumstances of the incident

The attack took place at about 13:30 local time in the building of the secondary school of Ayser Chalyk. According to provincial Governor Mykerrem Unluer, an armed student entered the building with a pump-action shotgun and opened fire indiscriminately in two classrooms. The attacker had five firearms and seven magazines with him.

The attacker turned out to be an eighth grade student from the same school. According to preliminary information, the weapon belonged to his father, who had previously served in the police. The student's motives have not been established at the moment, and an investigation is underway. The attacker was neutralized at the scene.

Injured and deceased

According to updated information, four people became victims of the attack, including one teacher and three students. 20 people were injured, four of them are in serious condition and undergoing surgical treatment. All the injured were promptly taken to the nearest medical facilities.

The reaction of the authorities

Three deputy Chief Prosecutors and four prosecutors were appointed to investigate the incident. The Ministers of the Interior, National Education and Health went to Kahramanmarash to coordinate actions. A ban was also imposed on the publication of any information related to the investigation.
