A witness in the murder case of Moscow designer Svetlana Khalyapova said that in 2020, the wife of the main suspect Vyacheslav Sokolov, Maria Sokolova, asked her to issue a certificate of her husband's death through a real estate agency. This was reported on April 14 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

It is noted that Sokolova did not have enough money to receive the document. The witness said that she was familiar with the family through work in the framework of professional contacts, and was also engaged in the valuation of their real estate — three apartments. At the same time, Vyacheslav Sokolov was more interested in the possibility of buying a home, rather than selling it.

The witness helped Sokolov with the placement of ads, she does not know anything about the fate of the apartments.

Maria Sokolova's daughter also stated during the meeting that Vyacheslav Sokolov had used violence against his wife and her children. We are talking about the period when the family lived in the Sverdlovsk region, as well as the time after moving to Moscow in 2018. The girl claims that Sokolov beat her and her brother when they were minors, as well as their mother. The woman, as follows from the testimony, made attempts to leave, but failed to do so.

In February last year, the Tushinsky District Court sentenced Natalia Kotova and Natalia Yeremenko, members of the Chameleon gang, to 14 and six years of general regime. According to the investigation, the fraud scheme was as follows: First, the criminals gained access to the apartments, then they registered them with new, formal owners, and then tried to sell them.
