Oleg Sedov, Director of Development at Ruspoint, an expert on cybersecurity for the public, told how scammers use children to deceive the whole family.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, April 14, the expert noted that it is important not just to list threats, but to understand who is really at risk. According to him, the greatest danger is not posed by children and the elderly, but by those who are sure that nothing will happen to them: even advanced users and IT specialists often overestimate their security, which is what attackers use.

He also pointed out the problem of "different language" between adults and children: attempts at guidance do not work, but it is more effective to build a trusting dialogue without prohibitions so that the child is not afraid to share problems.

Of particular concern, he said, is the digital nihilism of teenagers — the belief that no one needs their data. The expert emphasized that even if a person is not a target, they can be used as an "entrance" to their loved ones. He called for abandoning the illusions of one's own advancement and relying on awareness and basic principles of communication, since this is what forms real digital security.

Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, spoke to RT on April 6 about a new fraud scheme aimed at children and teenagers. According to him, the attackers find schoolchildren in game chats and transfer communication to instant messengers under the pretext of discussing game moments. Then they pose as "cybersecurity officers" and begin to exert psychological pressure on children and force them to steal money from their parents for transfer to couriers. 360.ru .

On April 3, psychologist Yana Tuzova pointed out signs of fraudsters' influence on the child. According to her, in particular, a sharp change in the behavior of a teenager cannot be ignored.

In March, analysts reported that in 2025, fraudsters stole more than 1 billion rubles from Russians using minors. According to experts, scammers actively use social engineering and most often reach children through gaming platforms like Minecraft and Roblox, as well as through social networks like TikTok and Likee. There they distribute videos about the "free" game currency, which lead to fake accounts and links, NSN notes.
