Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, discussed the search for ways out of the crisis situation in the Middle East. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 14.
"Issues related to the search for ways out of the crisis situation that has developed as a result of the unprovoked attack by the United States and Israel on the Islamic Republic of Iran were discussed," the statement said.
It is specified that Moscow and Ankara have expressed their readiness to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict. During the conversation, Fidan also raised the issue of the development of the situation around Ukraine and the prospects for resuming negotiations with the participation of the United States. He confirmed Turkey's readiness to provide an Istanbul venue for possible negotiations.
Earlier in the day, Lavrov and the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a telephone conversation during which they called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis in the Middle East. The interlocutors exchanged assessments of the situation in the Persian Gulf zone and called for an immediate cessation of all hostilities.
