Bishkek denied information about the renaming of Russian-speaking villages in Kyrgyzstan

The presidential administration of Kyrgyzstan stated that the issue of renaming Russian-speaking villages is not being considered. This was announced by the press secretary of the president Sadira Japarova, Askat Alagozov.

"The issue of renaming Russian—speaking villages in Kyrgyzstan is not on the agenda," a spokesman for the President of the republic told RIA Novosti.

He clarified that a ban on naming villages had previously been discussed, but as a possible project.

On the same day, it was reported that the Kyrgyz authorities plan to change all remaining Russian-language names of villages in the republic by the end of 2027. At that time, the country's president Sadyr Japarov also stressed that he did not support the practice of naming villages after famous historical figures of Kyrgyzstan.
