Iran warned of escalation in case of intervention in the situation in Hormuz
Any military intervention by foreign Powers in the Strait of Hormuz will lead to an escalation of the crisis and instability in global energy security. This was announced on April 13 by the press secretary of the Iranian Ministry of Defense, Reza Talaik.
"Any foreign military intervention in the security of the Strait of Hormuz will worsen the crisis and instability in the global energy sector. <...> Iran will not hesitate to defend itself and resolutely respond to any aggressor," he was quoted as saying on the Telegram channel of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Talai-nik stressed that US President Donald Trump and his allies would fail in any attempt at military intervention in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. According to him, Iran is responsible for the security and management of the Strait of Hormuz based on clear and logical principles.
On the same day, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States began due to the failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran. It is carried out against ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian and Oman Gulfs.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States would negatively affect international energy markets. According to him, Moscow is ready to help resolve the conflict.
