Peter Magyar, the leader of the Tisa party that won the parliamentary elections, called for pragmatic cooperation with Russia and rejected support for Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union. All the details of Magyar's first press conference are in the Izvestia article.

Peter Magyar's position

Magyar said that Hungary is open to pragmatic cooperation with the Russian side. At the press conference, the politician thanked the representatives of Moscow and Beijing for their reaction to the elections in the country.

He also expressed appreciation for the respect for the choice of Hungarian voters. The politician stressed that cooperation with partners should be based on the principles of mutual pragmatism.

"I thank everyone for their congratulations, and I also see that Moscow and the Kremlin, as well as Beijing, have spoken out," Peter Magyar said.

The future of economic relations

The politician separately touched upon the issues of energy cooperation, confirming his intention to maintain existing trade relations in the oil sector. According to Magyar, Hungary has no plans to stop purchasing raw materials from Russia.

Position on Ukraine's integration

Peter Magyar said that the Hungarian side would not support Ukraine's accelerated integration into the European Union. In his opinion, it is currently impossible and irrelevant to conduct real negotiations and review agreements with a State in a state of conflict.

The politician noted that the majority of the member countries of the association adhere to a similar position. At the same time, Magyar plans to discuss with European leaders the issue of granting a loan to the Ukrainian side.

"We do not support Ukraine's accelerated accession to the EU. For a country in a state of <conflict> to join the EU, it is impossible to conduct real negotiations, review numerous clusters of accession agreements, so I think this is not relevant now," said Peter Magyar.
