- Reuters reported on India's receipt of oil from Iran for the first time in several years
Two large crude oil tankers have arrived at Indian ports with the first shipments of Iranian oil in seven years. This was reported on April 13 by the Reuters news agency, citing data from vessel movement monitoring.
"Local refineries took advantage of the temporary permission granted by the United States last month to resume oil purchases from Tehran for the first time in seven years," the material says.
According to LESG monitoring data, the Felicity vessel under the Iranian flag arrived at the port of Sikka in western India, and the Jaya vessel under the flag of Curacao is located in the eastern port of Odisha.
The authors of the article also noted that Washington's current permit expires on April 19.
Bloomberg reported on March 25 that Indian oil refineries had purchased about 60 million barrels of oil from Russia, which was due to be delivered in April, using the temporary easing of the US sanctions regime.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said on March 23 that India and other countries are actively considering the possibility of increasing purchases of Russian oil, which arose due to the lifting of sanctions by US President Donald Trump on oil sales operations.
