The military secretary of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Major General Roman Hoffman, has been appointed head of the Mossad's foreign intelligence service. This was announced on April 12 in the office of the Israeli Government.

"The Advisory Committee on Senior Appointments, headed by former Chairman of the Supreme Court Asher Grunis, this evening approved the candidacy of Major General Roman Hoffman for the post of head of the Mossad for intelligence and special issues," the statement said.

It is clarified that Netanyahu signed a document appointing Hoffman as the new head of the Mossad. He will start work on June 2, 2026 and will lead the intelligence service for five years.

The Axios portal, citing sources, reported on March 21 that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Mossad are monitoring the activities of Iran's new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, trying to find out the reasons for his absence from public events. According to Axios, the two intelligence agencies have conflicting information about Khamenei Jr., which is why the portal's interlocutors call the situation strange.
