The WSJ has learned about the US consideration of resuming strikes on Iran
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, may start attacking Iran again after unsuccessful negotiations in Islamabad. This was reported on April 12 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing officials.
"President Trump and his advisers are considering the resumption of limited military strikes against Iran in addition to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States as a way to break the deadlock in peace negotiations," the publication says.
At the same time, the source said that the American leader is open to a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
Sources called the resumption of large-scale bombing of Iran a less likely decision by Trump, since the head of the White House "would not like to delay" the adoption of a peace agreement between Washington and Tehran.
On the same day, Al Arabiya TV reported that US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of the White House host Jared Kushner were still in Pakistan. Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance said on April 12 that the Iranian and American sides had not reached a common agreement during negotiations in Islamabad. According to him, the American side does not yet see Iran's readiness to abandon the development of nuclear weapons.
Negotiations between Washington and Tehran took place on April 11. Later, Trump announced that the United States would resume attacks on the Islamic Republic in the event of a failure of negotiations in Islamabad on the settlement of the war.
