Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has ordered the creation of a National Shipbuilding Research Center in Russia, which will bear the name of Academician Alexei Krylov. This is evidenced on April 12 by a corresponding decree published on the website of the Russian government.

"Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on the establishment of the National Research Center for Shipbuilding named after Academician Alexei Nikolaevich Krylov. The decision was made within the framework of the presidential decree," the text of the resolution says.

It is noted that the center will develop and substantiate shipbuilding programs, as well as combine the scientific, design, technological and human resources of leading organizations.

Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, said on January 22 that Russia should not allow shipbuilding and the fleet to lag behind technological innovations that are already actively used in the space industry. He recalled that many modern breakthrough developments, such as the Burevestnik intercontinental cruise missile and the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, are based on research begun in the late 1940s.
