- WhatsApp responded to Durov's accusations of messenger vulnerability
The creators of the WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) use an end-to-end encryption system for personal messages and calls from users by default. This was announced on April 12 by the messenger's press service in response to criticism from Telegram creator Pavel Durov.
Durov said on April 10 that the encryption function in the WhatsApp messenger may turn out to be the largest fraud in history. According to Durov, the service reads user messages and also shares this data with third parties.
"It explains a lot about Telegram — you don't even try to do both because it's difficult. WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption for personal and group messages by default, we support multiple devices, voice and video calls. We also have backups with end—to-end encryption," RBC quoted the WhatsApp team as saying.
Durov said in February that WhatsApp owner Mark Zuckerberg was secretly laughing at those who believed his public statements, including about encryption of communications.
Bloomberg also reported in January that Meta was accused of fraud due to access to correspondence on her WhatsApp messenger.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
