Orthodox Christians celebrated Easter in Nizhny Novgorod
Residents of Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday, April 12, celebrated the main Orthodox holiday — the Bright Resurrection of Christ. Footage of the celebration is published by Izvestia.
"Today is a very important holiday, the main holiday is the holiday of holidays. It is impossible not to come to the temple on this day. It's a good night, a holy night. May all your loved ones be well, the Lord protects and protects them," said Elena Vinogradova, a parishioner.
Vasily Tarasov, who came to the temple with a girl, stressed that the couple was trying to maintain church traditions. According to him, they were at the church for Christmas and came for Easter.
"I wish you joy, peace in your heart and a peaceful sky over your head," said Vera Guzairova, a resident of the city.
On April 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated all Orthodox Christians and citizens of Russia on the Holy Easter holiday. He noted the enormous creative role of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations in preserving historical and cultural heritage, as well as in strengthening the institution of the family and educating young people.
On the same day, Patriarch Kirill congratulated all believers on the holiday. He noted that the resurrection of Christ symbolizes victory over death and the opening of the gates of the Kingdom of heaven, and also stressed the importance of referring to the encouraging words of the prophet Isaiah.: "Do not be afraid, for I am with you." The Patriarch wished these words to comfort in the most difficult circumstances of life, and faith in the risen Lord to help overcome all doubts, worries and fears.
