- The media reported on the White House's rejection of the idea of an appeal for a truce with Iran.
The White House rejected the idea of a televised address by American leader Donald Trump on a truce with Iran, as there are fears of "exaggerating the significance" of the agreement. This was reported on April 11 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.
"This decision demonstrates the Trump administration's attempt to find a balance, as it sought to demonstrate confidence in the agreement reached, <...> despite the fact that aides were aware of its fragility," the publication says.
According to the agency, Trump insisted on applying, but was dissuaded from doing so. The White House, in turn, called the information about the discussion with the American leader of the issue of the appeal "fake."
On the same day, Trump announced the official start of negotiations. According to him, it will soon become clear to the American side whether Tehran is being frank in the negotiations. As the US president pointed out, it "won't take long." In addition, the American leader called Iran a "failed country."
Later, he said that the United States would resume attacks on Iran in the event of a failure of negotiations in Islamabad on the settlement of the war. In a conversation with Newsmax reporter Kelly Mayer, he noted that he did not know how today's consultations with Tehran would end. When asked by a reporter if the US president had any hope, Trump declared his readiness to "act."
