The head coach of Kaliningrad "Baltika" Andrey Talalaev underwent a planned surgical intervention. This was announced on April 11 by journalist Ivan Karpov.

"Talalaev had 20 cm of intestines cut out: the most striking Russian coach of the RPL underwent surgery yesterday. Talalaev underwent a biopsy to rule out cancer. Thank God, my worst fears have not been confirmed. The official diagnosis is diverticulitis. Viktorych has already been transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward — he feels well and sends greetings to everyone," Karpov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the journalist, the mentor had problems with the gastrointestinal tract for a long time. Recently, he had been on a diet — he did not drink alcohol, ate little — and periodically took antibiotics. After the Baltika mini-gathering in Svetlogorsk, Talalaev was hospitalized due to severe abdominal pain. The specialist is now feeling well and has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward.

On March 20, the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) disqualified Talalaev for four matches after the meeting of the 21st round of the Mir of the Russian Premier League (RPL) against CSKA. In addition to the suspension, the specialist was fined 300 thousand rubles.
