- The media reported on the US request to Israel not to strike Lebanon before the negotiations
The Lebanese and American sides are asking Israel to stop attacks on Hezbollah formations before the start of negotiations between Tel Aviv and Beirut. This was reported on April 11 by the Axios portal, citing sources.
"According to two sources familiar with the situation, the Lebanese government and the administration of [American Leader Donald] Trump has asked Israel to "suspend" attacks against Hezbollah until the start of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon next week," the publication says.
It is clarified that some Israeli officials agreed with the proposal, since a pause in the strikes would be "in the interests" of Israel.
Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian said on April 9 that Israeli strikes on Lebanon violate the ceasefire agreement. He called it a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements.
On April 9, Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing a senior Israeli official, reported that direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon could begin as early as next week.
