Recall of 2 thousand Shacman trucks announced in Russia

Shakman Motors is launching a recall campaign in Russia, coordinated with Rosstandart. It involves 2116 SX3258 trucks, according to a statement from the representative office of the Chinese brand, which was received by Izvestia on April 10.

The recall covers 1996 cars that have not yet been registered and are in dealers' warehouses, as well as 120 cars sold in June –November 2022. Shakman Motors is going to notify the owners of the respective trucks about the recall. In order to carry out free work, the cars will need to be brought to the dealer.

On vehicles of the SX3258 type that have not yet been registered (X3000/X5000 series, wheel formulas 6x4 and 6x6), the campaign requires installing a side cover for the air filter fastener and protective caps (plugs) on the protruding bolts of its fastening, as well as replacing the reinforced rear body locks with standard ones (by 80 mm shorter), the company explained.

In addition, on implemented machines, it is necessary to inspect and check the condition of the mufflers of pneumatic devices and vibration sound insulation, properly fix the muffler if it is done incorrectly, or install a new one if it is missing or damaged and cannot be repaired. In addition, it is necessary to dismantle the side protective device and install a new one with further control of the correct installation, as well as to dismantle and replace the bolts of the rear protective device with new ones.

"The program developed by Shacman includes a set of production control measures that will help in the future to avoid cases of non—compliance of vehicles supplied to the Russian Federation with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union On the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles," the company added.

What caused cars to be subject to recall campaigns last year?

In February last year, Rosstandart announced the withdrawal of vehicle type approval (OTT) for Shacman SX3258 trucks. The reason for this was the inconsistencies of a number of mandatory requirements identified in the framework of the control (supervisory) measures carried out by Shacman type SX3258 vehicles.
