The prosecutor's office named the reason for the dam break in Dagestan.

The dam in Dagestan was built due to the fact that the owner and the organizations operating the Gejukhskoye reservoir complex did not ensure the safety of the hydraulic structure. This was announced on April 10 by the Volga Interregional Environmental Prosecutor's Office.

"The owner and organizations using the Gejukh reservoir complex on the Darvagchai River did not ensure the safe operation of the hydraulic structure, which led to a dam break, uncontrolled discharge of water masses and flooding of the surrounding area, including settlements," the prosecutor's office wrote on the Telegram channel.

It is noted that the materials with the results of the inspection were sent to the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation to resolve the issue of initiating a criminal case on violations of environmental regulations during the operation of the facility and negligence.
