Dry and polluted office air can cause skin dehydration and increase sensitivity. Maya Karika, a cosmetologist at the SLOWMO beauty salon, told Izvestia about ways to protect against such air on April 10.

"Office air is a factor in chronic skin dehydration. We are faced with a constant decrease in humidity, which leads to an increase in transepidermal moisture loss. As a result, the barrier function of the skin is disrupted, and it becomes more sensitive, reactive, and visually less healthy," the expert noted.

The cosmetologist emphasized that such changes are not only a cosmetic problem, but also indicate a functional violation of the skin barrier. According to the expert, working in rooms with artificial ventilation can also provoke dryness, peeling and irritation. In this regard, she recommended using products with ceramides, antioxidants and moisturizing ingredients, as well as not neglecting UV protection even indoors.

To protect the skin, the cosmetologist recommended using multi-layer moisturizing, applying masks regularly, updating hydration throughout the day, and paying attention to restoring barrier function in evening care.

For hair care, the specialist advised the use of indelible protective products and the use of regenerating masks.

On April 3, Rita Shaikhalieva, a cosmetologist-dermatologist, chief physician of the Romanov Center for Health and Beauty, assistant professor at the Department of FGBI DPO TSMA, said that excessive care for children's skin can lead to long-term problems. According to her, regular use of cosmetics unnecessarily can interfere with the natural formation of the skin barrier.
