FAS has requested data from Russian tire manufacturers
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has requested information from Russian tire manufacturers on production and supply volumes for 2025, as well as exports. The agency announced this on April 10.
Requests have been sent to tire manufacturers for passenger cars, trucks, and light trucks, as well as for agricultural and forestry equipment and special vehicles (construction, mining, and industrial). The agency also contacted companies that produce aircraft tires and motorcycle tires.
Thus, based on the information received, the FAS intends to assess the level of competition in the market and identify areas where antimonopoly regulation measures are needed.
As it became known on April 9, up to a third of the cheapest tires may disappear from the domestic market. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has sent a proposal to relevant departments to ban the use of rubber with a high content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). This follows from a letter from Mikhail Yurin, Deputy head of the Ministry, to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Rosstandart, which was reviewed by Izvestia.
