The doctor told about different reactions to neurotoxins in humans
Alcohol, drugs, and nicotine negatively affect health, but the degree of their effects depends on the individual characteristics of a person's metabolism. This was announced by Alexey Reshetun, a forensic scientist and an assistant at the Department of Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery at Pirogov University.
"Neurotoxins disrupt the transport of various substances through the cell membranes of neurons, which determines their destructive effect. Such substances include nicotine, alcohol and drugs, as well as some other substances...> Some poisons <...> they are extremely toxic even in small quantities, but the general principle remains unchanged — it is the dose that determines the degree of exposure to a toxic agent," the doctor said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
The most reliable way to avoid poisoning with neurotoxins is to completely stop using them, the specialist pointed out. According to him, the body's reaction to such substances is unpredictable: everyone has their own unique biochemistry, metabolism and genetic background.
Tula neurologist, chiropractor, and rehabilitologist Alexander Atyashev reported on March 23 that taking sleeping pills with alcohol poses a serious threat to health, as it can lead to severe dependence and suppression of the nervous system. The expert noted that most sleeping pills affect the nervous system, and alcohol additionally slows it down.
