VTB announced preparations for the transfer of AI agents to autonomous operation

In 2026, VTB will focus on the development of AI advisors, and in 2027 it is considering a transition to autonomous agency scenarios, including transfers and purchases. This was stated by Alexey Martyanov, head of the customer base Development Department, Senior Vice President of VTB, at the session "AI agents in Business" at the Data Fusion conference.

"For us, AI agents are a working tool that should provide a clear result for both the client and the business. Therefore, we are moving step by step: from scenarios of assistance and recommendations to more independent actions where there is trust, high—quality data and clear rules for this," said Alexey Martianov.

According to Martianov, AI agents are currently used in the bank in two main areas. Within the organization, they help employees find the necessary data in the systems, take into account the context of the request and allow them to respond faster and better to customers. In client scenarios, an AI Advisor is already used to form an investment portfolio based on the risk profile and prepare recommendations for the user.

The bank's research shows that customers are ready to use the advice and recommendations of artificial intelligence, but they prefer to make the final decision on significant operations on their own.

In offline usage scenarios, the AI agent will be able to perform individual actions in the interests of the client within pre-set limits, such as paying for purchases or making transfers within the agreed amount.
