A traffic accident occurred in the Tomponsky district of Yakutia, as a result of which one person was killed. This was reported on April 9 in the press service of the state traffic Inspectorate for the region.

"According to preliminary data, on April 8, 2026, a driver driving a Volvo cargo vehicle on the 146th km of the Yana regional highway (RAD) <...> lost control and drove off the road, followed by overturning the vehicle," the Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the passenger and the driver were drunk at the time of the incident. According to the state traffic Inspectorate, as a result of the collision, the driver died on the spot, and the passenger was injured.

On April 8, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry reported that 213 road accidents had occurred on Russian roads over the past day, in which 24 people were killed and 238 injured. 13 of the dead were drivers and passengers. As a result of 80 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 46 outside their area of operation, 11 pedestrians were killed, and 72 more road users in this category were injured in various degrees of severity.
