Negotiations between the United States and Cuba are ongoing, involving top-level officials of the American government. This was announced on April 8 by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at a briefing.
On February 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was calling on the United States to refrain from plans to impose a naval blockade on Cuba, as such steps could seriously destabilize the situation in the region. He added that Russia will consistently continue to support Cuba in protecting its sovereignty and security.
